ultra (not so) sound

I have spent the last 5 hours trawling internet medical papers.
I was a bit shocked today when I was told there was an 'issue' with baby's right kidney. They can't really say what yet. Just that it needs to be 'flagged' and that it looks 'mild'.

Frankly, not mild enough for me.

I am a bit panicked at this stage but nothing more can be done or assessed until the baby is born. The info trawl has helped calm me a little. I only really read the 'mild' and more measured articles that highlighted protocol, procedures and options (not worst case scenarios - really not helpful at this point!)

I know it could be worse, I know it is good that we know the possibilities early, some articles suggest it could be solved at birth or soon after (fingers crossed the odds are with us this time), I know they said it has nothing to do with anything done or not done during the pregnancy and I know the baby is normal size and otherwise looks healthy...which is what we went there to check in the first place.

but I still feel like crying...(crap!)

Oh sweetie...I am so so sorry! I am sure that everything will be just fine but I know that you will still worry. We all would. Just know that we are here for you!! If you need anything at all, just hollar.

And, go ahead and cry and get it over with. Sometimes that is the best thing to do...and things will look brighter after you get that out of the way.

Prayers for you and the wee one.

Here's wishing you peace and health toward the end of your pregnancy. I know you'll worry yourself senseless (we all would), but stay positive...

I am so glad it is normal weight and looks healthy - that is the main thing.
I am totally sympathising - I did not enjoy ultrasounds - every time they found something not quite right, but it did mean they had the right attention when they were born and now everything is great, as I know it will be for you.

I'm sorry to hear this and I can't imagine the stress this would cause you, never having been pregnant myself. But I can empathise and hope that all works out for the best. If the doctor said it was a mild issue, then it will be. Just think positive and let the little one feed off of your happy mummy vibes. Wishing you all the best....

I hope all works out fine. Take time out to relax and don't worry yourself too much.

God, I wish doctors wouldn't say shit like that. "Issue". The "issue" is that you're using words like "issue" with a pregnant woman, asswipe.

Best of luck. I'm sure all will be well.
