I would very much like your feedback...

I have noticed of late (from late November) that I have not been getting as much comment love...?

I thought people must be finding me extra boring (kidding!...not that this has ever bothered me before, anyway - I just keep blathering on!)...but then I read here (that link was an edit as my memory of my internet travels leaves a lot to be desired!) and clicked on this...

Apparently blogger has changed something with the way you sign in to comment. I noticed it when I recently made a comment on a Blogspot blog myself. I don't exactly understand what they have done...
(something to do with less overall sign-ins and it is supposed to be a fantastic - EDIT: there is a good explanation video via million stitches)

Anyway....I would like to know if it is affecting you wanting to...or being able to comment.
EDIT: aside from the million other reason you could have this time of year.

Please could you make the effort to comment today to let me know. From any other platforms (wordpress, typepad, etc) even if you haven't tried to comment before - especially if there is a problem - or email me if it is too annoying

pyglet @ gmail . com

Perhaps this will be the final straw that has me move to Typepad
(like that will suddenly make me SO interesting and the comment love will rain down upon me - yeah right!)

Yes, they have changed it so that no one can comment with any info or a clickable link to their blog if their blog isn't hosted on Blogger. If you have another host like Typepad/Wordpress etc you can now only put a 'nickname' if you don't have a google/blogger account. How annoying!

I've just been using my old google/blogger account login (there's a redirect on my old blogger blog) but it is a pain as I have to 'log in' before I can comment, it's either that or just leave my nickname and then the blog owner isn't able to contact me at all if they need to.

Stupid blogger!

And here's me leaving my 'nickname' post. So you can't find any info on me, go to my blog or email me...

Yes, they changed it. Yes, it's a pain. And yes, it stops me commenting quite as much on blogger blogs because a) I have to sign in and b) sometimes I can't remember my sign-in password!!

PS : poo on them, I say.

I read all the time, but don't comment much because I read in bloglines and also... "that's really cool" after the hundredth time isn't such an interesting comment. No-one EVER comments on my blog - well hardly ever so... I think I win the least interesting blog prize for now! :-)

Meshell:
What is with that 'nickname' section anyway?

Kirsty: I agree about the poo...

Superminx:
I also read in bloglines, commemt *ahem* not often enough and my 100 times over catch phrase is "cute...(fill in the blank)" I just left one of those on your blog!
...but there will be absolutely no "least interesting" prizes coming your way from me!! :)

Now if I can only sign in and fill in my own anti-spam thingy...(doesn't my blog know I am not a spam machine if I have to sign in anyway?)

...Typepad's getting warmer every minute!

I am a v.bad commenter normally, but yeah, the Blogger thing has p'd me off as well. We can still post hyperlinks in the body of a comment, as I just did, but it is kinda annoying. Anyway, Hi, and remember, Typepad is not your only other option. Wordpress - either selfhosted, or more easily, FREE at Wordpress.com, is a very nice platform too. Doesn't Typepad cost $ even for the basic level? Anyway... just some food for thought. (Blogger blogs easily import into Wordpress, btw).

Yeah, I noticed that, and yeah, it sucks. It pretty much forces everyone to have a blogger account or be anonymous. It means that blogger says the only way a person can know who I am if I have commented on your blog is by clicking on another blogger page to see my blogger profile. Is that one extra click so beneficial for blogger?

As far as comment quantity goes, I think it's a bit seasonal too. We are busy and finding less time to share when something is cool. Just wait till January. :-)

Oh is that it? I was feeling so unloved too lately. My explanation to self was that all my loyal readers must be too busy to comment and the fact that i haven't been posting too much crafty posts. I don't know.
So Blogger is getting too big of an Ego. Hm. I really don't feel like transferring everything to a new system.
But i want to be loved again too...
Let's see what the new year brings.

Just edited my post.

Melanie:
I went to your blog post and realised I had read it before - I have such a good memory...NOT!
I think I must have got to my link via your post.
Sorry!

Sunshine: I didn't mean to make it sound like I was rapping people over the knuckles for not commenting...oops!
I know everyone is busy this time of year. Just wanted to know how much the sign-in thingy might be adding to that.

dorie: I think it is crappy too

ismoyo: the dread of transferring everything over is what has always stopped me from changing my blog provider. Perhaps it will all be sorted by January?

Thanks to everyone for commenting!

Pyglet, don't let the fear of transferring everything over hold you back. I swapped from blogger to wordpress about a year ago and it was EASY. The only down was losing the links on comments, but I got over that REALLY fast when I decided that wordpress is so much easier than blogger (IMO). Blogger had pissed me off one time too many.

Maybe a way round would be to leave your own blog details in the message? Mine are http://jellybeanangel.blogspot.com/

I'm on a different computer and can't remember my log in details correctly so I'm a nickname this time.

I didn't realise Blogger had changed anything as I haven't been able to go on-line for a while. (My excuse for not being here and commenting for a while- sorry).

Is there a way of changing the way you accept comments in your own set up?

I am all confused about this but I don't get many comments anyway so I don't think it affects me. You know read and leave the odd comment. Cheers

So sorry I have been a terrible commenter! I know it's awful when you feel like you're talking to yourself. I still check in here from time to time but just didn't get around to commenting...

The new Blogger commenting system didn't bother me *that* much, especially now that I've worked out that I can add my URL straight away if I select the Nickname option (a more recent change they added). Although, I wish Blogger comment forms could remember the info that I've put in, like in Typepad or WordPress comment forms, so that I don't have to keep entering them every time.

I hope you have a lovely Christmas and a fantastic 2008!
